A resident of Baton Rouge, died at 8:45 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. He was born July 10, 1933 in St. Helena Parish and was 80 years of age. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired after 28 years with Western Electric and 10 years of service with Louisiana Department of Corrections Prison Enterprises. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. Survived by wife of 57 years, Annie Laura Brecheen Reeves; daughter, Tammy Reeves Varnado and husband, Joe; 2 grandsons, Rodney Varnado and fiance, Megan and Brit Varnado and wife, Katie; 4 great grandchildren, Peyton, Riley and Jolie Varnado and Jade Ducote; brother, Leslie L. "Skeet" Reeves and wife, Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Rupert and Lois M.E. McDaniel Reeves; 2 nephews, William "Billy" Reeves and Calvin Reeves. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5PM until 8PM, Friday, January 10, 2014, and from 9AM until religious services at 11AM, Saturday, January 11, 2014. Services conducted by Rev.
