St. Louis Dunbar Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ of Opelousas for Mr. St. Louis Dunbar, Jr., 64, who passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his residence in Opelousas. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas. Rev. Frank L. Ford will be officiating the services.Mr. Dunbar was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Dunbar is survived by: his mother, Elnora Dunbar of Opelousas; one daughter, Allison M. Dunbar-Major (Benjamin, Jr.) of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Robert Dunbar of New Orleans, Harry Dunbar, Sr. and Allen Dunbar, both of Opelousas; one sister, Susan Dunbar Lewis (Edward) of Opelousas; two grandchildren, Nathalie Chapman and Benjamin Major, III; and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by: his father, St. Louis Dunbar, Sr.; one brother, Larry Dunbar, Sr.; and one sister, Gloria Dunbar-Ned. Visitation will be observed on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ. Ford and Joseph Funeral Home, 907 N. Market St., Opelousas, LA, (337) 942-6750, is in charge of arrangements.
