Anchorage resident, SGT. Talmadge Herschel Ingram, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Providence Alaska Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 E. 9th Ave., in Anchorage with military honors provided. Father Anthony Patalano will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, David Lambert and Don Lambert. Talmadge was born October 19, 1932 to Hugh and Lola (Gandy) Ingram in Seminary, Mississippi. He later enlisted into the Army in 1949 and stayed until retirement. He served in Germany, Panama, and parts of the United States earning several commendations along the way. He was a life member and former Chaplain of V.F.W. Post #9981 and attended the Holy Family Cathedral. He called Baton Rouge, Louisiana his home for many years where he owned Modern Sewing Sales and Repair on Plank Road until he again retired. He later moved to Alaska, the state he loved so much, in 1991. His family quoted, "Talmadge loved walking Chester Creek Trail, shopping, and visiting with his many friends. He was most famous for saying "Keep it quiet!" Talmadge was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Elaine Lambert Ingram; infant twin daughters, Roxanne and Jacqueline Ingram; and brothers, Billy Hugh Ingram and Winston Ingram. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Herschel O. and Beatrice (Raney) Ingram of Anchorage; sister, Lola Ingram of Hattiesburg, MS; sister-in-law, Margaret Thelma Racca of Lafayette, LA; brother-in-law, Donald Lambert of Palmer; girlfriend, Juanita Honsinger of Anchorage; plus various nieces and nephews and a huge circle of friends that he adored.
