Agnes Faye Lousteau Lasseigne, 89, passed away in Baton Rouge on Friday, June 8, 2018. The daughter of Albert Joseph Lousteau, Sr. and Agnes Lizzie Montz Lousteau, she was born in Kenner and raised in Norco. On July 19, 1947, she married George Augustine (Bubsy) Lasseigne, Jr., a young WWII veteran. The couple raised their 5 children in LaPlace, Louisiana. In 1985 George and Faye moved to a Pontalba Apartment on Jackson Square in the New Orleans French Quarter and lived there for seventeen years. They then moved to the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue and later to Old Metairie. In 2014 they made their final move to St. James Place in Baton Rouge. George preceded her in death in 2017, just two months after their 70th wedding anniversary. Faye was known for hosting parties in her LaPlace home and French Quarter apartment, from intimate dinners to events for hundreds. Any occasion called for a party-birthdays, weddings, holidays, Mardi Gras, Spring Fiesta, French Quarter Festival, and Crescent City Classic, to name a few. Faye's parties were filled with traditional Cajun and Creole dishes, great drinks and music, and often ended with a festive second-line parade. To be invited to one of her parties was always a treat! Faye was active in many business and civic organizations. For twenty years she owned and operated Lasseigne's Fine Jewelers in LaPlace. In the 1970s she became the first female president of the Louisiana Retail Jewelers' Association. In St. John's Parish, Faye also served as president of the Friends of the Library, a board member of the St. John Theatre, and a member of Krewe du Monde. She was active in the development of the LaPlace Andouille Festival. In New Orleans, she was publicity chair and president of Patio Planters and a member of the St. Louis Cathedral and Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre. Her Catholic faith strengthened and inspired her. She taught catechism and for five years served as Director of Religious Education at St. Joan of Arc Parish in LaPlace. At the St. Louis Cathedral, she worked for two years as a receptionist. She also was generous with her time and commitment to the homeless in the French Quarter. A proud graduate of Ursuline Academy, she maintained close ties with the Ursuline sisters. She was devoted to Our Lady of Prompt Succor and St. Jude. Faye is survived by her five children: George Augustine Lasseigne III (wife Vivian Rotollo), of LaPlace; Loretta Lousteau Lasseigne Ragland (husband James Ragland), of Baton Rouge; Stuart Connell Joseph Lasseigne (wife Elizabeth Ermon), of LaPlace; John Albert Lasseigne (husband Orlando Sandoval), of Vancouver, Canada; and Edward Joseph Lasseigne (husband Philip College), of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Robert Ragland, Jeff Lasseigne, and George (G.A.) Lasseigne IV, and three great-grandchildren, Henry Lasseigne, William Ragland, and Phoebe Ragland. She is also survived by three siblings, Gordon Lousteau, Anne Lousteau, and Bernard Lousteau, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her brother Albert Joseph "A.J." Lousteau Jr. predeceased her. Services will be Wednesday, June 13 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm and the Mass of the Resurrection at 2 pm, followed by graveside prayers in Metairie Cemetery. For more information, call Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 504-486-6331. The Lasseigne family will always remember the loving, respectful care given to their mother by the staffs at St. James Place, Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, and Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Home. The family also fondly thanks Faye's faithful sitters and therapists who accompanied her in her later years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Ursuline Academy, 2635 State St, New Orleans, LA 70118, tel. (504) 212-6820; Hospice of Baton Rouge, 3600 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, tel. Loretta, I knew your mom through Calico Corners where she was a shopper and I was an employee. She was always so beautifully dressed and such a smart, sophisticated lady. My prayers and condolences are with you and your family at this time.
