Jack passed away January 1, 2014 after a brief illness. Jack was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on September 2, 1925 to John Hicks Green and Lena Williams Green. Their family moved to Vicksburg Mississippi when Jack was a young child and he remained there until 1968. Jack graduated from Jett High School in Vicksburg in 1943 and later that year enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. While in the Navy and stationed in Pensacola, Florida he met and married the love of his life Flora Ann Williams on May 7, 1945. They were married for 55 years until her death July 3, 2000. After completing his military service Jack worked as a welder / pipe fitter for Spencer Chemical Company later renamed Williams Brothers in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Jack relocated with his family to Baton Rouge, La. to work for Williams Brothers in 1968 and work there until his retirement in 1988. He then spent the remainder of his life in the Baton Rouge area. Jack was preceded in death by his parents John H. & Lena M. Green and his four siblings, William Green, Harvey Green, Johnnie Green Blazier and Lena Green Vanetten all of Vicksburg, Ms. and one grandson Charles J. Green of St. Francisville, La. Jack is survived by his daughter Deborah Green Sheets and husband Rory Sheets of Baton Rouge, Deborah's son Karl Jukkola and his wife Tiffany and their sons Keegan and Kolton of Denham Springs. Jack is also survived by his son Albert Jack Green Jr. and wife Cathy of St. Francisville and their sons Christopher Green and wife Dixie Green, Andrew Green, and daughter Erin Green Kemp and husband Reese Kemp of St. Francisville. Jack is also survived by great grandchildren Charles Green Jr., Nicholas Green, Christian Green, Hayes Green, Benton Green, Sutton Green, Lindsey McGrew, Marcelle Kemp and Ada Kemp. Jack was a long time member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Vicksburg chapter and will always be remembered by his outgoing personality and his ability to dominate a dance floor. Jack lived a long and full life and will be missed and remembered by many. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 from 4 pm until 8 pm and resumes on Monday, Jan.6, 2014 from 8 am until religious services at 9:15 am conduced by the Rev. Ron Turner. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reese Kemp, Chris Green, Andrew Green, Kippy Sheets, Karl Jukkola and Charlie Ramsey. Deb, I am SO sorry to hear of your dad's passing! I just hope Heaven is ready cause we all know he is the life of the party!!! What a great husband and dad he was!! And thank goodness he left you with his personality! Cherish your memories as we all will. God Bless! Cat
