Owner and operator of a floor-covering business for more than 30 years, he died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at his home. He was 85 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was an Army veteran, having received several awards and commendations during his service, including the American Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and an overseas service bar. Visiting at St. Joseph Baptist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Donald Grim. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his daughters, Marion Jones Hatch and husband Roosevelt and Rita Augustine and husband Donald; sons, Alphonse Albert and wife Esparonza, and Ronald Ray Albert; and grandchildren, Gregory and wife Pandelis Hatch, Roosevelt Jr. and wife Sheila Hatch, Reginald Hatch and wife Patti, Kerry Albert, Corey Albert and wife Shineka, Tresa Augustine, Reginald Suggs, Tonya F. Harris and husband Reggil, Keith Albert and Kevin Albert. Preceded in death by his wife, Louise W. Albert; parents, Alexander Albert Sr. and Lucille Penny Albert; brother, Joseph Albert; and sister, Edwina Pooler Ambeau. Pallbearers will be Kerry Albert, Corey Albert, Gregory Hatch, Reginald Hatch, Roosevelt Hatch Jr., Carl Moore, David Pooler and McClinton Pooler. Honorary pallbearers are Donald R. Augustine, Moses Drake, Walter Drake, Charlie Givens, Roosevelt Hatch Sr., Charles Wilkinson Jr., Elijah Wilkinson Jr., Howard Wilkinson Sr. and Charles Brown.
