A retired accountant with LA DOTD and resident of Port Allen, she died after a lengthy illness at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Amber Terrace Assisted Living. She was 85 and a native of Chestnut. Visiting at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Chestnut. Survived by her son Gordon Robertson, Jr. and wife Milissa Robertson of Baton Rouge; granddaughter Dawn Robertson of Baton Rouge; grandson Jon Robertson and wife Sherry Robertson of Denham Springs; former daughter-in-law and friend Charlotte Robertson of Prairieville; numerous nieces and nephews as well as wonderful, longtime neighbors and friends. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years Gordon Robertson, Sr.; parents Mr. & Mrs. H.H. Burney, Sr.; sister Glennie Mae Burney Weaver; brothers, H.H. "Buddy" Burney Jr. and wife Estelle Burney, and Arvil Burney, Sr. The family would like to thank Dr. David West and staff along with Cardinal Hospice and the wonderful, caring staff at Amber Terrace Memory Lane for all of their help and support.
