Funeral services for Judge Benjamin C. "Clyde" Bennett, Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moreauville with Father Jose' Robles Sanchez officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Moreauville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville. Judge Bennett, age 88, was born on May 22, 1925 and was a resident of Marksville. He passed away at his residence in Marksville on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Clyde Bennett, Sr. and Nellie Rose CoCo Bennett, and son, Benjamin Clyde "Benny" Bennett, III. Judge Bennett was an attorney from 1948 to present, Marksville City Judge from 1971- 1987, District Judge from 1987-1990 and then retired. He was appointed LA Supreme Court Judge Ad Hoc in Rapides Parish for almost 3 years and held many other courts throughout the state. He was Tunica Biloxi Tribal Judge from 1994 to date and was devoted to his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Frances Taylor Bennett. Son, John Taylor Bennett, grandchildren, John Taylor Bennett, Jr. and wife ,Ginger, Krysten Bennett, Anne Marie Bennett Platte and husband, Michael, Rachel Bennett, great grandchildren, John Taylor, III and Grace Bennett, Sean and Lauren Launey, and Anthony Platte. Daughter, Mary Madelyn Bennett Edwards and husband, Gene, grandchildren, Mary Cotton George Viker and husband, David, Gaynor Paul George and wife, Gretchen, great grandchildren, David Dane, Mary Taylor, Matthew Viker, Marie, Jacob, Sarah, and Clare George. Nettie Bennett, widow of Benjamin C. "Benny" Bennett, III, grandchildren, Holly Benett Carbo and husband, Michael, Heather Bennett Blakesley and husband, Joshua, great grandchildren, Michael Briggs, II, Emily, Bennett, and David Carbo, Sophie and Sutton Blakesly. Son, William Joseph Bennett and wife, Kim, grandchildren, Jamie Bennett Brittain and husband, William, William Joseph Bennett, Jr., Zachary Marc Bennett, Haley Elizabeth Hutchinson, and Lacey Elizabeth Hutchinson, great grandchildren, Will, Matthew and Ashlyn Brittain. Daughter, Sarah Rose "Sally" Bennett Dubroc and husband, Mark, grandchildren, Jennifer Pease Moses, Kelly Pease Lombardi and husband, Joey, Benjamin Dubroc, great grandchildren, Weston, Seth, and Alexander Moses, Joseph Lombardi, Jr. and Madelyn Lombardi. Son, Robert Bennett and wife, Melanie, grandchildren, Lindsey Bennett, Nellie Rose Bennett, Robert Bennett, Jr., Brian Bennett, Benjamin "Benny" Bennett, great grandchildren, Riley Pennington and Tim Lambert, III. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013. Judge Bennett was a good person, a good judge, and a good friend. I enjoyed my experiences with him. I will always remember his kindness and companionship that we had.
