Betty Joe Franklin was born May 9, 1956 to the late Isaac and Ordee Franklin of Ethel, LA. She gained her eternal wings on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 5:11 P.M. in Baton Rouge, LA at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice. She was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Peter Nelson and became a member of Providence #1 Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Serenity Whitestone Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Anna Phillips. She was the mother of five children: Dolan Franklin, Bernice Franklin, Lamont Franklin, Rolonda Love (Franklin) all of Baton Rouge, LA and Roland Franklin of Bemidji, MN. She also had 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She also had 3 sisters: Degloria Lathers (Babe Ruth) and Lillian Carr of Baton Rouge, LA, Lillie Bee Poole of Gretna, LA, and one brother Melvin Franklin of Baton Rouge, LA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a father Isaac Franklin, a mother Ordee Franklin, maternal grandparents Emmitt & Ellen Irvin, a brother Jerome Franklin, a grandson Brian Love Jr., and a nephew Jerome Kelly. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Promised Land Baptist Church 7234 Plank Rd. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until religious services at 12:00 noon. Interment Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery. Carney Mackey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

I still think about her. Always tried to follow my recipes in cooking and then would fuss at me because it tasted so good she kept eating it. Still can´t believe it has been 6 years. Wow! She left this world to be with Jesus before me! That just means I have more work to do for Him. Until we meet again.

My deepest sincere goes out to the Franklin family. She was my childhood friend and became a family member through time. We had plenty of memories growing up in Scotland Square Apts. We came back across each other path just communicated with laughter and reminiscing. Betty will be missed by many. With Love my FRIEND
