Cecilia Maria Espinoza Hamer (Ceci), a resident of East Baton Rouge Parish, passed away at the age 37, on February 14, 2017. She was born in Lima, Perú on July 9, 1979 and attended Colegio Winnetka in Chaclacayo, Perú. She later received an associate's degree in administration and worked for around 9 years as an executive assistant there in Perú. She was fluent in Spanish and English, the latter of which was self-taught through her love of music. She was a wonderful singer and guitarist. She first met and dated the love of her life, Gary Hamer (born in New Orleans, LA), in Pucallpa, Perú in 1998 but they did not marry until August 8, 2009 in Baton Rouge, LA where they have lived together ever since. Together they had two amazing children, Danitza and Arkaitz for whom she loved with all her heart and protected with all her soul. She was the loving godmother of her cousin, Samira Awad and niece, Gislene Espinoza, and the everything-but-official-godmother to many others. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend but most of all she was an angel that God lent to us for only a short time. She was a devoted homemaker, but spent much of her time helping with her children's schools and the needs of her friends and family. She brightened the lives and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Ceci made life wonderful, exhilarating, breathtaking, intoxicating, electrifying, enchanting, and dramatic. She spent her time with husband loving, dancing, singing, celebrating, travelling, bringing lives in to this world, then with her children, more loving, worrying, teaching, learning, cheering, crying, singing, dancing, swimming, travelling and so much more. She loved deeply and was deeply loved. Her early passing has left a gaping hole in the hearts of all that loved her, and life will never be the same without her. Cecilia is survived by her husband, Gary Stephen Hamer; daughter, Danitza Magdalena Hamer; son, Arkaitz Stephen Hamer; brother Jorge Esteban Espinoza; mother Cristina Gislene Soria-Scaglioni; father Raul Fernando Espinoza; grandmother Rosa Bertha Scaglioni. She is also survived by a large host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws all throughout Perú, the United States and Canada. She was also very close to her husbands' father, William Gordon Hamer, for whom she considered as her own father, and her godchild, Samira for whom she considered as her own daughter. She is preceded in death by grandfather, Luis Diverto Soria-Castaneda; grandmother, Magdalena Nieves; and grandfather, Esteban Espinoza. Visitation will be from 12:30pm to 3:00pm on Saturday 2/18 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The funeral ceremony will begin at 3:00pm and her internment will directly follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Save the Children, ChildFund International, or the Catholic Church in Cecilia's name. Cecilia's family would like extend their sincere thanks to all those who have poured out their love for Ceci and her family during this time. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavebatonrouge.com.

I don't have words to describe how hearing this news has made me feel.Shocked...stunned..stupefied...numb.I didn't get to know her closely but I coached kids in tennis at SOAC. I always admired her love and involment she showed to her family. I will miss her upbeat personality and smiling face around the club. I pray for peace and love for her husband, kids and family.
