A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died of natural causes Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his residence. He was 84, a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in World War II and Korea. He was a retired Cook County Law Enforcement Officer in Chicago. Visiting at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Don Allen. Interment in Louisiana National Cemetery. He is survived by 3 sons, Charles "Chucky" Allen and Vernard "David" Johnson of Baton Rouge, and Gordon Allen of Pensacola, Fla.; 3 sisters, Mary Louise Houston and Lucille Allen of Baton Rouge, and Pearl V. Taylor (James) of Detroit, Michigan; 1 brother, James Allen of Baton Rouge; 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucille Allen; brothers, Henry Lee Allen and Earl Bailey Allen; sisters, Viola LeBlanc, Mable Taylor and Liz West.
