Johnson Jr., Charles LaPierre "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Charles LaPierre Johnson Jr., a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Natchez Regional Medical Center in Natchez, Miss. He was 46, born on Jan. 27, 1959, in Natchez to Charles LaPierre and Carla Collier Johnson. Service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Vidalia, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, with the Rev. Paul Kunnumpuram officiating. Visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of service. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home, Natchez. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School and attended LSU in Baton Rouge, where he was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Order. He was a carpenter by trade all of his professional life for Concordia Contracting Co. in Vidalia. He was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia. He was a member of the local, state and national Homebuilders Association. He served as president of the Natchez chapter and was a current member of the board of directors. At the state level, he served on the Member Benefits Committee. Mr. Johnson was an avid sportsman and conservationist and a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Whitetail Hunting and Fishing Association. He spent many happy hours in the woods, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Deborah Coulon Johnson; two daughters, Brittany Ann and Anna Elizabeth; his parents; two sisters, Carla Johnson Lea of Natchez and Byron Johnson Edgecombe and husband Kent of Madison, Miss.; brother, William Carl "Bill" Johnson and wife Susan of Madison; and eight nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the many hours of care by Louise Hutcherson and the nurses in ICU and on the fourth floor at Natchez Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Johnson, formerly of Vidalia, and Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Carl Collier, formerly of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be Mitch Ashmore, Mark Carter, Darrell Daigre, Bruce Laird, Paul Meng, Steve Murray, Sammy Porter and Joe Sewell. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Patrick McGauly, Dr. Jack Rodriguez and Dr. John White. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
