Chester Joseph Blanchard, Sr., 78, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7:35PM. He was a native of Pierre Part and resident of Stephensville. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 20 from 9:00AM until service time at New Covenant Christian Church in Pierre Part, LA. Funeral service will begin at 1:00PM at the church with burial following at Saint Joseph the Worker Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Pipsair Blanchard; children, Carolyn (Michael) Guidry, Sr., Stephensville, Chester (Robin Sedotal) Blanchard, Jr., Stephensville, Charlotte (Brad) Ratcliff, Sr., Stephensville, Carla (Lenny) Dartez, Morgan City, Carl Blanchard, Sr., Stephensville; grandchildren, Michael Guidry, Jr., Brad Ratcliff, Jr., Seth (Darby) Ratcliff, Ryan Ratcliff, Chelsea Blanchard, Anna Blanchard, Kristen Blanchard, Carl Blanchard, Jr., Cindy Blanchard, Michele Blanchard, Brandon Gaudet; great grandchildren, Madilynn, Parker, Cam, Trey, Kolsten; brother, Mervin (Lucy) Blanchard, Stephensville; sister, Joyce (Roy) Harrelson, Morgan City, LA and his companion, Speedy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Acline and Telesia McCarthy Blanchard; brother, Perry Blanchard, Sr. Chester was a dedicated Husband, Farther, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend. He fought every day to live his life to the fullest. Every Morning when awakening he would give Thanks to God for being able to see another day. In his younger days he was the singer and guitar player for his band formally known as "Chester and the Midnighters". Throughout his life he was a Commercial Fisherman and then went work for the Wildlife and Fisheries where he later retired from. After doing so, He and his Brother Mervin continued Crawfishing to be in the woods out in the Spillway which they loved. One of his favorite outings was to go to the Casinos. He and his wife Mary would take trips to Mississippi, and throughout Louisiana for weekends away of enjoyment at various Casinos. Chester also had a passion and knowledge for working on any engine, especially the outboard engine. Which was his last project he had was to get both his boats up and running for the Family if they was to need them. Chester Blanchard will be missed dearly by all whom has had the chance to ever get to know Him. The family would like to thank Journey Hospice especially Brooke Darnell and Janie Ortego; the staff of Leonard J. Chabert Hospital for their phenomenal care.
