Clara L. Bercegeay, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Visitation for Mrs. Bercegeay will be held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation on Friday, December 9, at 10:00 AM until a Life Celebration Service at 11:00, officiated by Pastor Sam Mason. Interment will immediately follow at Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales. Clara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis J. "Lou" Bercegeay; her parents, Omer Mayers and Dexter Mayers Gautreau; brother, Roland Mayers; sisters, Helen Pertuis and Melva "Nook" Moore. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Jacobs and husband, Mike, a son Travis Bercegeay and wife, TK; grandchildren, Cody Bercegeay, Michael and Gene Jacobs, Joe and Traci Streacker; great-grandchildren, Vaughn Jacobs, Wyatt and Megan Bercegeay, James and Jasmyne Melancon, Joe Streacker; and her friends of God's choosing who are family by heart, Josie Mendoza and lldefonso "Poncho" and their children, Vanessa, Vincente, Stephanie, and Bobby. In Lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Joseph Hospice at the Carpenter's House (10615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809) or a charity of your choice. Travis and Judy, it saddens me to hear of the passing of Mrs. Clara. She was a big part of mine and my brothers early childhood. We both know all too well what it is to loose our parents. May God give you peace and comfort in this time of sadness. We will hold you both and the family close in our prayers.
