Daniel Monroe Byrd, Sr, a loving husband, father, "peppermint papa", son, brother, uncle and friend went to his eternal home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. He was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Byrd, son Daniel Byrd II and wife Liz Byrd, son Douglas Byrd and wife Mary Byrd, daughter-in-law Angela Byrd, daughter Jeni Byrd Page and husband Brian Page, daughter Dawn Byrd. He is preceded in death by his parents Delbert Byrd and Helen Brown Byrd, sister Sharon Byrd Lindauer, and one son Dennis Byrd; he leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of his life. His life was focused on God, Family, and Church, in that order. Anyone who met Dan loved him and was immediately welcomed as part of the family. If you had a joke to share he'd have a dozen to share back; most of them made no sense, but he loved them none-the-less. His joy of cooking and fishing were legendary; if he could tell you a bad joke, while cooking fish he just caught, that would be the greatest moment. His goal in life was bringing joy to others, if you didn't leave with a hug and a smile on your face…well, you just weren't trying. He will be missed, but remembered, by all who met him. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 10 AM until services at 12 PM, conducted by Pastor Philip Pimlott (#3….lol) at HeartsEase Family Life Church, 12112 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Private burial services will be held at a later date. Please sign the online guestbook at www.sealefuneral.com.

Mr. Dan never met a stranger. As soon as he came in contact with you, you became his friend. His warm, loving, words of encouragement are going to be missed by lots of people. He was soooooo knowledgeable and a valuable resource at church and in the community. Whenever I walked through the doors of HeartEase Church I would look for him to get my hug. It's going to be difficult not seeing him there anymore. He was truly a child of the King and has gone home to be with his Heavenly Father. My prayers are with Mrs. Nancy and her family. I pray that they find comfort through God's words. My family loved him very much and will always have a place in our hearts for him. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

The line "he will be missed but remembered by all who met him" can't be any truer. Dan found common ground with all ages. He often had a life lesson to share and enrich your life. He was a great example of God's love.
