Funeral services will be held for Mr. Eddie L. Bennett on Saturday, January 13, 2018, 11:00 am, at Jefferson Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory at a later date. Visitation will take place on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 am and continue until service time at 11:00 am. Mr. Bennett was born on April 24, 1929 and passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was 88 years old. Mr. Bennett was an avid fisherman. He collected fishing reels and lures for many years. He was a retired cartographer/draftsman with the Dept. of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries where he worked for 28 years. Mr. Bennett was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served his country as a Corporal in the Korean War. He was also a charter member of Jefferson Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett is survived by his daughter, Terri Bennett Wheat and Ron; sons, Michael Bennett and Teresa, Guy Bennett and Carla; grandsons, Justin Wheat, Josh Wheat and Yna and great grandchild Mera Belle Wheat. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy "Ms. Dot" Perrin Bennett; father, Lowren Bennett; mother, Ella Mae Mulford Bennett and brother, Richard Bennett. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Bennett's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
