Sister Elizabeth Bourg, CIC entered into eternal life early on Easter Monday, April 17, 2017 at Ochsner Meadowcrest Hospital in Gretna. She was 96 years old and in the 73rd year of her religious profession. Sister has been in residence at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center in New Orleans since January, 2006. Sister Elizabeth was born in Point Pleasant, LA to Clarence Samuel and Cornelia Hebert Bourg. She is survived by her sister, Martha Mae Bourg, her brother, Theodore J. Bourg and her Immaculate Conception Sisters Mary Angela Bergeron and Jerome Blank. Sister Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brothers, Clarence S. Bourg, Jr. and Ervin J. Bourg. Sister Elizabeth entered the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception on September 7, 1941, pronounced first vows on July 30, 1944 and perpetual vows on August 7, 1947. A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Sister Elizabeth ministered as a teacher and served in various capacities at the Immaculate Conception Motherhouse in Metairie. She treasured her association with the Sisters of Saint Joseph, who were her educators in Baton Rouge and with whom she lived for ten years at their Provincial House on Mirabeau Avenue in New Orleans. Family, friends and Our Lady of Wisdom residents are invited to gather at OLOW Healthcare Center Chapel, 5600 General DeGaulle Boulevard, to celebrate her life on Friday, April 21, 2017. A wake will be held beginning at 9:30 A.M. with the recitation of the rosary at 10:00 A.M. The Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 A.M. Burial will be at the Marianite Mausoleum.
