After two courageous battles with cancer, she went home to be with Jesus, St. Anthony and "Cuz" at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at her daughter's home in Baton Rouge. Born on Aug. 9, 1924, in Plaquemine. "Cookie," as she was best known, had a very successful hair salon in Baton Rouge in the 1940s and 1950s. She married Millard "Cuz" Allain Sr., of Brusly, in January 1943 in Georgia. Together, with other family members, they built the "Casa Loma" Club in Port Allen. She was a devout Catholic, member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and until recently, never missed Mass on Sundays or Holy Days. She loved dancing, bingo, LSU, Notre Dame and Saints football. She was a very patient, caring and loving lady who cried when John Lennon died. She was the best cook this side of Plaquemine. We will forever miss your gumbo, jambalaya and po-boys, Momma. No one could have ever asked for a better mother, grandmother or friend. She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie A. Harrison and her husband, Ronnie, of Baton Rouge, Millaine Allain, of Zachary, and Allaina Allain and her companion, Kenneth, of Baker; son, Millard Allain Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Greenwell Springs; three grandchildren, Ashley Allain and Ben and Adam Hebert; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Haley, Brianna, Alec and Aiden; a sister, Joanne LeBlanc and her husband, Earl T., of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Abel Daigle, of Plaquemine, and Nolan Daigle and his wife, Margaret "Deeda," of Baton Rouge; good friend, "TugBoat"; a sister-in-law, Corrine C. Daigle, of Brusly; and many nieces and nephews - she loved each and every one of you. Preceded in death by her husband, Millard "Cuz" Allain Sr.; parents, Jules and Nola Aucoin Daigle; three sisters, Theresa Businelle, Jean "Lee Lee" Rivet Allain and Mary Lee Culotta; and three brothers, Phillip, Edward and Bruce Daigle. Special thanks to Lynette, Donna Appel and others with Hospice Association for your kind care. Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. Burial in Grace Memorial Park which is, as "Cookie" would say, "Down 'Da Buy-ya." No words can express how much we will miss her. Aunt Cookie was a humble soul who spent her life in service to her God and her family. She was always extremely grateful for any kindnesses shown to her. Her faith and her training as a beautician allowed her to use her talents to help support her family after the death of Uncle Millard whom she loved dearly. She delighted in her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren as well as her nieces and her nephews. She cherished her Catholic upbringing, St. John School and her Plaquemine roots. Her pastime was bingo and her passions included visiting with family and friends and watching Lawrence Welk and Cajun shows on LPB. May God reward her for a life well-lived. I feel privileged to have had her as my godmother. I'll miss her phone calls and her sincere concern for others. She certainly exemplified the characteristics of a true Christian.

I was so sorry to hear about your mother. She was a kind person. I loved talking to her. She loved her family and always asked about mine.
She was so courageous in her illness. She always looked so good, you would never know she was sick.
I am so sorry I can't make the funeral. It's so hard on my mom to pack up to go back home for a quick trip.
Now we have another Saint to pray to.
Please know that you are all in our prayers.
Love, Glenda and Nolan Daigle
