A native of Baton Rouge and resident of Omaha, NE, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. He was 70 years old. Services will be held at New Salem Baptist Church, Omaha, on Friday, January 25, 2013. Anderson was born Dec. 23, 1943. He graduated from McKinley Sr. High School in 1962 and from Southern University in 1967, where he played a great role in having Southern's Men's track and field team voted the number 1 collegiate team of the decade (1960-1969). He was passionately known by all who knew and loved him as "Log", a phenomenal "World Class Sprinter". The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Anderson for his speed, and he played for the semi-professional Omaha Mustangs of the Continental Football League. He leaves to cherish his wife Ola Mae Anderson of Omaha; three sons; Eric Anderson, Marcus (Michelle) Anderson both of Omaha, and George (Amy) Anderson, III of Lincoln, NE, 5 siblings; Beverly Anderson Green and William Anderson of Omaha, Dr. Donald Anderson of Baton Rouge, Dr. Leon Anderson of Detroit, and Lee Earl Anderson of Denver, six grandchildren, Kendall, Joshua, Michael, Camille, McKenzie and Caeleb and a host of relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents. The family of George "Log" Anderson would like to send a special acknowledgement to Coach Richard "Dick" Hill, McKinley Sr. High School Class of 1962 and the 1962-67 Southern University Men's Track and Field Team.
