Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Gerald Kennerson, 56, who passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas. Rev. Frank L. Ford will be officiating the funeral service. Mr. Kennerson served in the National Guard. He lived in Baton Rouge for several years. He worked at the College Drive Walmart and then the New Inspiration Group Home. Cherishing Mr. Kennerson's memories are: his wife, Celestine Kennerson of Opelousas; three sons, Anthony Castille (Gloria) of Port Barre, Paul Kennerson of Lake Charles and Scott Edwards of Opelousas; one daughter, Ashley Kennerson of Lake Charles; one brother, Troy Kennerson (Cassandra) of Carencro; four sisters, Virgie K. Dejean, Patricia K. Morrison, Beverly K. Lazard (Wilfred) and Cindy K. Jackson (Ernest), all of Baton Rouge; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Clay Kennerson and Lillian A. Kennerson; three brothers; one sister; and mother-in-law, Hilda Jones. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Community Chapel C.O.G.I.C. Words of condolences may be expressed at fordandjosephfh.com.
