Grethel Bernard Obituary

Grethel Eugene Bernard entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at her home in Baton Rouge, LA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward J. Bernard and two sons Melvin and Kenneth. Mrs. Bernard leaves to mourn her, a sister Dorothy Turner, five sons, Warren (Gilda), Merlin, Donald (Karen), Gerard and Calvin; four daughters, Joycelyn (Joseph), Gail, Dorothea (Robert), and Jeannette; Twenty-one grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; a host of other family and many friends. Mrs. Bernard was a faithful member of Hope Community United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, LA. Before Hurricane Katrina, she was a member of Brooks United Methodist Church of New Orleans, LA. Mrs. Bernard was a member of the Wizards Social and Pleasure Club; Mandeville Golden Agers, and Baton Rouge Council on Aging. Family and friends are invited to attend a service of Christian Burial Monday, January 7, 2013 at Hope Community United Methodist Church, 4260 Evangeline Street, Baton Rouge, LA. Viewing begins at 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Services begin at 10:00 am. Interment is at Mount Olivet Cemetery in New Orleans, LA., Reverend H. Lewis Jones, Officiating. Hall Davis & Sons Funeral Service in Charge of arrangements.
