Helen Wascome Williams Markey born December 21, 1924 and passed away peacefully March 26, 2013 at Baton Rouge General Hospital Mid City surrounded by her family. She was 88 and a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. During WWII she worked as an administrative clerk at Exxon while her first husband was fighting for our country in the Army Air Corp overseas. Helen will be remembered for her kindness, especially towards those who were less fortunate, and her numerous artistic talents – painting, writing, piano, cooking, gardening. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Danny Ray Williams and Kathy Vilas of Baton Rouge, James Gordon and Josette Williams of Walker, Charles Lacy and Grace Williams of Jarreau, David and Linda Markey of Baton Rouge and by her daughter, Elizabeth Markey of Baton Rouge. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Aaron Williams, Blane Williams, Chad Williams, Casey Williams, Clint Williams, Alesha Markey, Coleman Markey, and Grant Markey. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Louis "Bo" Markey, and former husband, Raymond L. Williams; brothers, Dan C. Wascome and wife Lillian, Joseph David Wascome and wife Madeline; parents; David C. Wascome, Lillian Wascome, and Florence Wascome. Family was a very important part of Helen's life. Pallbearers are her grandsons, great grandson Steve LoMaglio, and Roy Allen, Ph.D. Visiting will be at Broadmoor United Methodist Church Monday, April 1, 2013, at 9:00 am until religious services at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Ken Carroll. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank her friend and long term caregiver, Gail Charles and Diana Tucker for care and attention.
