Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Hilda Branau, age 86, the former Hilda Kuechler, who passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Branau was a native of Long Island, NY and had been a resident of Carencro 1997. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, Mount Carmel Society and Rosary Society. Survivors include two daughters, Denise E. Halvorson and Barbara A. Newhouse and her husband, Richard; one daughter-in-law, Tracie Branau; five grandchildren, Jessica Newhouse and her boyfriend, David Danziger, Lisa Ross and her husband, William, Christopher Newhouse and his wife, Marite, Jennifer Hebert and her husband, David, and Bryce Branau; and one great grandson, Landon Hebert. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. Branau, Sr.; her parents, John Kuechler and the former Martha Wosnitza; one son, Edward F. Branau, Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Kuechler. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
