Howard J. Blanchard, born January 9, 1936, native and resident of Pierre Part, passed away and into the arms of Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 03, 2017. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved life, nature, music and traveling. He was a retired pipefitter with Local 198. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emily A. Blanchard; five children and their spouses, Jessica Michel and husband Jimmy, Rhonda Empey and husband Kevin, Judy Landry and husband Michael, Timmy Blanchard, and Jamie Blanchard and wife Karen; 9 grandchildren, Cory Leonard, Trevor Michel, Tiare' Empey, Sean Empey, Michelle Landry, Brooke Bercegeay, Devan Blanchard, Kamryn Blanchard, and Kathryn Blanchard; 8 great grandchildren, Symone, Adalyn, Rylee, Jameson, Carson, Kynlee, Harper and Paige; three brothers, Thomas Blanchard (Elaine), Russell Blanchard (Eva), and Lonnie Blanchard (Darla); two sisters, Linda Boudreaux and Clara Clement (Happy); two sisters in law, Ida Goad and Emma Lee Blanchard; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Savalien and Martha Blanchard; father and mother in law, Allain and Alice Alborado; sisters and brothers, Hilda Daigle (Leonce), Robert Blanchard (Itsy), Isabelle Blanchard, Davis Blanchard, Wilton Blanchard, Maurice Blanchard, Ned Blanchard, Anthony "Tony" Blanchard (Mary Ann), Whitney Blanchard (Julia) and Elaine Schaff. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 5 pm until 9 pm and on Thursday from 8 am until 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Pierre Part at 11 am on Thursday, December 7, 2017, Rev. Al Davidson officiating. Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum.
