A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iota for Hubertina Burton, 87, who died Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:40 p.m. in Jennings American Legion Hospital. Fr. Jude Thierry, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Frey Cemetery. Mrs. Burton was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. She worked 48 years with Hayes Planting Company as a bookkeeper. She loved her animals, being outdoors, cooking and gardening. Her door was always open to her family and friends. She is survived by her numerous loving nieces and nephews and her special caregiver, Rena Leger, all of which she loved as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Josephine Schneider Burton; brothers, Joseph, Louis and Winston Burton and sisters, Susie B. Hebert, Martha B. Thevis and Margaret Burton. Pallbearers will be Patrick Thevis, Christopher Thevis, Anthony Hebert, Gaston Hebert, James Burton, Wayne Burton, and Brian Klumpp. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Patrick Griffin, the nurses and staff of Jennings American Legion Hospital and First Option Home Health, especially Betty Bellard, for their loving care and compassion.
