Our beloved Jimmy Ray Parrish, or Big Jim as he was affectionately known, was called to Heaven to be with his Savior, Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was a devoted father, grandfather, former deacon of 60 years, Korean War Veteran, and friend. Jimmy Ray was a native of Jones County, MS and lifelong resident of Baker. Big Jim is survived by his two sons, Donny Parrish, wife Datha of Conway, Arkansas, and Mike Parrish, of Baker, Kelly Fisher Parrish of Central, three grandchildren, Kristin, Kyle and Samantha, and great-grandson, Hudson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Parrish, and granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Parrish, and seven siblings. Dad was a hard worker who provided for his family while raising us in a Christian home. He was a man of many talents and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Dad was one of the founding members of Harding Street Baptist Church in Baker, where he not only helped to build the sanctuary, but also served faithfully as a deacon, music director, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed his retirement from BASF and traveling with his wife, Evelyn, up until her passing. One of Dad's favorite pastimes was cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers from his recliner. Dad was a faithful member of Zoar Baptist Church. Although he will be greatly missed, we are thankful he is now reunited with those loved ones who have gone before in Heaven. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Central on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9:00 AM until religious services at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel conducted by her son, Rev. Donny Parrish. Burial will be at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery in Central. Seale Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Road, Central, LA 70818 is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to Lifeword, P.O. Box 6, Conway, AR 72033.
