John "Craig" Williams passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Tyler, Texas at the age of 55. He was born on Tuesday, June 19, 1962 in West Virginia to the late Virginia Williams and the late John Roberts Williams. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. When Craig was younger he volunteered for the civil defense, helping barricade roads and directing people away from flooded roadways. Craig graduated from Northshore Technical Community College with a degree in nursing. Later in life, Craig found his passion taking pictures when his son started playing baseball at Ponchatoula Recreational Park. Craig soon started his own company, Southland Photography; garnering large support at the baseball park, he soon became the official photographer. As his photography business grew, he joined the Strawberry Festival Board in 2011 as the official photographer and remained on the board until his death. Craig loved traveling with his family, especially to go whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River in North Carolina. Craig is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Lynn Babin Williams; son, Jeremy Williams, Austin Williams, and John Michael Williams; daughter, Jessica Williams; sisters, Elizabeth Jones and her husband Glynn, and Taunya Houp and her husband David; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Williams and father, John Roberts Williams. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, 325 E. Pine St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Friday, February 9, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
