John was a wondering mentor and teacher. I am a student of his from University of Idaho & Washington State University. He had such patience with all of us and was the one who directed me to shift schools to WSU (where I met my husband). John and his wife welcomed us students into their home with such loving hospitality. He will be missed but he made an impact on so many lives. Our prayers go out to John's wife and his family.

John will be greatly missed by members of the South Central Chapter of ASID. I had the honor of working with John during my tenure as the Chapter President-Elect and the President, 2017-2019. His passion and leadership in the field of interior design inspired me to be the best leader and designer.

I had the opportunity to meet John at an event last year at LSU. My son Brannon spoke very highly of John, and several times he went to John asking him to give him insight on different areas of his Interior Design classes. He will be deeply missed by my son as well as so many other people.

John and I adopted each other more more than 50 years ago. After we met at Louisiana Tech in 1965 (coincidentally on Mardis Gras weekend) this loveable connector saw something in this California kid with an attitude, much more so than I did in myself. He and his beautiful family literally saved my life, in so many ways. Cajun music, Otis Redding and Irma Thomas, Granny's crawfish etouffee and more, but mostly just helping me believe in myself. As it turned out, love, war and an ever-changing geography led to our drifting apart, as so often happens, eventually reconnecting, thanks to Google, on Thanksgiving Day just three years ago.

For John: With everything that's going on today in this incredibly unforgiving world, I'm having a difficult time with the "Lord's" decision to "call you home." Your friends - who could never get enough of you - still need you here.

I guess we'll reconnect though soon enough, John-ola. And this time we won't need an internet to find you.

What do I remember best about John? When my house flooded in August of 2016, he and Jo Ellen welcomed me into their home. I was a wreck, and he was so gracious and kind, with a marvelous sense of humor at a time when I most needed all those qualities. A true host, sharing his love of Jesus and respect for those around him, men like John are far too few, He will be missed. A lot.

JOHN WAS THE FIRST LOVE OF MY LIFE. HE TAUGHT ME MANY THINGS. PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY. GRIEF HURTS. NO ONE CAN REPLACE A LOVED ONE WHO IS GONE. IT IS AN EMPTINESS THAT DOESN'T GO AWAY. HE WAS SO TALENTED IN MANY WAYS.
