He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Sue Kendrick Daniel, his father, John Russell Daniel, Sr., and mother, Myrtle Angeline Brasseaux Daniel. Russell graduated from Julius Freyhan in 1946. He served on the St. Francisville Town Council, St. Francisville Volunteer Fire Department, Founding member of Revelliers, Grace Church Vestry, and West Feliciana Historical Society. He was also a member of the Julius Freyhan Restoration Board of Directors, Free Mason Feliciana Lodge #31, West Feliciana Sheriff's Flotilla and West Feliciana Hunting Club. He was President of Russell Daniel Oil Co. and was awarded 100 years of service by Exxon Mobil. He was Past Master of Lodge #31. Russell was an avid hunter most of his life but in his last years, he only wanted to admire their beauty. He loved to write poems and short stories. He loved St. Francisville and thought it was the finest place on Earth. His favorite way to spend time was to ride to the Mississippi River and sit and count the tugboats. He never met a stranger and was considered by many to be one of the last southern gentlemen. He stood up when a lady entered the room and his handshake was his word. He was a man of integrity. He was loved by so many especially his family. He will be greatly missed by all. A special thanks to his caregivers, Jamie Pennington, Janice Smith, Samantha Andrews for all your compassion and care. A special thanks to the ladies at St. Francisville United Methodist Church for bringing us delicious meals each week and a very special thanks to his longtime friend and physician, Dr. Larry Schneider. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the ALS Foundation. Share sympathies, condolences and memories at www.CharletFuneralHome.com.
