A true man of God, Leslie G. "Jerry" Carter, passed away suddenly in his home on September 26, 2016 at the age of 63. He is survived by his one true love, Nanette B. Lackie Carter, of 33 short years of marriage. Jerry was a family man and extremely proud of his sons, Michael G. Carter (Lyndsi), Ben R. Lackie (Angela) and preceded in death by J. Eythan Lackie (Kasie). Gramps created memories with his grandchildren that will last them a lifetime: Skylin J. Lackie, Olivia J. Lackie, Paisley R. Lackie, Emma R. Wilson and Lorelei D. Carter. Jerry is also survived by his parents, Jimmie and Pauline Carter and siblings: Paula Herman (Linn), Gene Carter (Cheryl), Carroll Carter (Sue), Joy Odem (Raymond), and Lea Baber (Glen). Jerry was a member of IBEW Local 995; Deacon of South Baton Rouge Church of Christ and led Prison Ministry for 35+ years. Jerry was one of the greatest men one could ever know. Jerry was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Louisiana. Always friendly and kind. Showed me how to skin a catfish after fishing. Opened his house many times in service to the Lord. Remember one crawfish boil that showed friendship in Christ.

Jerry is a true Hero and man of honor. He loved our Nanette and boys always. God put them together. He finished the beautiful log cabin and made everyone in our families happy with his deep love for all and giant smile which I always saw on his face. He was a man after God's own heart ❤. He will be so missed .
