A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Dalton L. Babineaux Jr., the former Lois Dugas, 76, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia. The Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday until service time. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Babineaux passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Babineaux and her husband, Dalton L. Babineaux Jr., were the owners and operators of Babineaux Marble & Granite, Memorial Park Cemetery and Evangeline Funeral Homes Inc. until their retirement. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the New Iberia Garden Club and was very instrumental in the forming of St. Francis Diner where she volunteered many hours. Mrs. Babineaux also belonged to several bridge clubs and enjoyed the time spent with her friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Babineaux is survived by her children, Reneé B. O'Brien and her husband, Dr. William O'Brien, of Mandeville, Robert D. Babineaux, Dalton L. "Kippy" Babineaux III and his wife, Michel Simon Babineaux, Simone Babineaux and Nicole Babineaux, all of New Iberia; nine grandchildren, Seth Francis Babineaux, Corinn O'Hanlon O'Brien, Charles Austin Segura, Caroline Elizabeth Segura, Shelby Kate Babineaux, Camille Elizabeth Babineaux, Sydney Reneé Babineaux, Sophie Reneé Regard and Elise Dalton Regard. She is also survived by a sister, Olga D. Hebert, of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton L. "SuSu" Babineaux Jr.; parents, Dennis and Corrinne Wiltz Dugas; two brothers, Fred Dugas and Lawrence F. Dugas; and three sisters, Lucy D. Guiberteau, Rose D. Poche and Anna Belle D. Halphen. Pallbearers will be Robert D. Babineaux, Dalton L. "Kippy" Babineaux III, Dr. William O'Brien, Seth F. Babineaux, Charles A. Segura and David Neustrom. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503, Catholic High School Endowment Fund, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560 and/or St. Francis Diner, 1201 S.
