A retired employee of the Iberville Parish School Board and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Heritage Manor. She was 97 and a native of Plaquemine. Visiting at Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, May 12, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. S.C. Dixon. Entombment in Southern Memorial Gardens. She is survived by a son, Clarence E. Askins; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Luvenia Ennis; husband, Elias Askins Sr.; two sons, Elias Askins Jr. and Henry J. Askins; five sisters, two brothers and a grandson. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Plaquemine and loved crafts of all kinds. Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
