If Death should beckon me with outstretched hand, and whisper softly of 'An Unknown Land … ,' I shall not be afraid to go. Manuel was born Sept. 1, 1929, and passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, due to cardiac arrest. He was a retired mechanic and had worked for years at Griffin & Griffin's Auto Shop in Donaldsonville. At this time he also delivered the Morning Advocate and New Orleans Times Picayune. After the auto shop closed, he continued to work for Chuck Griffin's Muffler Shop until he retired. Before his death, he loved playing the guitar and harmonica for his family. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by three sons, Manuel Alleman Jr. and wife Clarise, Howard Alleman and Paul Alleman and wife Marie; seven daughters, Marie Bugh and husband David, Joyce Cassard and husband Roy, Julie Tullier and husband Raymond, Winifred Hernandez and husband Lou Allen Sr., Beatriz Mollere and husband Harry Sr., Brenda Dupeire, and Norma Para and husband Hampton; and a special family friend, Judith Sanchez. He is also survived by a sister, Marie Guidry and husband Phillip; and two brothers-in-law, Henry Millien and Walter Millien and wife Barbara; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucy Millien Alleman; his parents, Howard Alleman and Lucy Alleman Dupre; a daughter, Janet Cedotal; a son, George Felix Alleman; and three grandchildren. Visitation at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville on Friday, Sept. 5, was from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Phil Spano, celebrant. Interment in the Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home of Donaldsonville.
