Marion Aileen Hunter Ryan, of Bunkie, LA, passed away peacefully in her home at the beautifully young age of 102, Friday, April 11, 2014. Marion was born June 26, 1911 in Texarkana, Texas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and an exceptional friend to many. Her family and faith meant the world to her. She took great delight in sewing, cooking and entertaining. She worked for Ryan Equipment, Fidelity Savings and Loan and to ensure her children had a college education. She enjoyed participating in the Bunkie Garden Club, Catholic Daughter's of America, Bunkie Service League, St. Elizabeth Guild, St. Anthony's Altar Society and Daughters of the American Revolution. Marion is preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years Jerome L. Ryan and her son Dr. Jerome ""Jerry"" R. Ryan. She is survived by her son, Patrick W. Ryan (Janie) of Alexandria, Louisiana, daughter, Virginia Ryan Allen (Deacon Bob) of Corpus Christi, Texas, and daughter-in-law, Rosemary Gullett Ryan of New Orleans, Louisiana, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and longtime caregiver and friend Patsy LaCombe. Friends are asked to call at Melançon Funeral Home in Bunkie on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bunkie, LA with Fr. Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will be in the Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Melançon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dr. Thomas Ryan, John Ryan, Dr. Stephen Ryan, Joseph Ryan, Dr. John Allen, David Allen, Russell Allen and William Daugherty. Special thanks to Becky and Ricky Villemarette and the nurses and aides of Central Louisiana Home Health & Hospice. The family request memorials be sent to St. Anthony Catholic School, 116 S.
