ACY, MELISSA ANN RILEY Melissa Ann Riley Acy was born in Dallas on Aug. 22, 1964. On April 25, 1998, she married Kevin Thomas Acy of St. Amant. At 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, she went to claim her heavenly inheritance. She left behind many loving family members and friends. She is survived by her mother, Gwynn Stafford of Prairieville; father, William Robert Riley of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Teri "Beanie" of Prairieville; and three brothers and their wives, Billy and Kelly of Prairieville, Devin and Nancy of St. Amant, and Boyce and Heather of Springfield. She is also survived by her maternal grandfather, James Boyce Morgan and wife Claudette of Sulphur; stepfather, Terry Stafford of Gonzales; and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called her MeMe. Diagnosed with Type I diabetes at age 17, she overcame that obstacle to become a top-notch hairdresser in the Baton Rouge area. She pursued her career for 25 years before becoming a victim of leukemia in September of 2005. She waged a brave struggle, assisted by the loving staff members on the fifth floor of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and her doctor, Patrick Stagg, who gave her such excellent and compassionate care. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Monday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 2 p.m., conducted by Butch LaBauve, pastor of The River.
