Memories and Condolences
for Michael Voisin

Not sure what to say?

To the entire Voisin Family; I just learned of the passing of Mike and wanted to pass on my sincere condolences to the entire family. I attended High School with Mike and Steve and they both pounded me on the football field 40 plus years ago. Even though I had not seen either since that time, I did hear from Mike a few years ago regarding a get together for our former coach (Antista) who has also since passed. I have always held the Voisin's with extreme respect and I can see by the numerous lives Mike has touched his life was lead with tremendous dignity and success. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. May God Bless you all.

Respectfully,

We were priviledged to be in your lives for such a short period of time, but long enough to feel the kind of love your family has for everyone. The Ward there really felt like part of one big family. Some of my most treasured times were spent there. To have such a great leader that always made you feel welcome was just one tiny piece of who Mike was. I am just amazed that he did all of those other things and still found time to serve the Lord in such a big calling.
May the Lord bless all of you with the love and strength to carry on that legacy he started. I keep remembering the story you told us of his conversion, it is hard to believe that he was ever that way! Thanks and love to all of you.

Brother Voison was so kind to the missionaries at church. He stood up for what he believed in and loved everyone. He always had a smile on his face and he was always genuine. Michael and sarah left impressions on my heart as a 22 year old serving a mission in Louisiana and I will ever be grateful for that. Love y'all!

Mike and I served as Co Chairs of the NFI Moluccan Shellfish Institute for a few years together. Even though I am older, I always viewed Mike as a big brother, he patiently tutored me and lovingly worked with me. When we lobbied Congress on the Oyster being listed as an Endangered Species, Mike was larger than life. He was the go to man, nobody else was close. I am a Christian as are the Voisins and I wept when I heard of Mike's heart attack and then passing. I rejoice that I know that I will see him again in the hereafter. Knowing Mike Voisin was an honor, a privilege and one of my life's seminal events. God bless all of us, we have to try to pick up his slack and we can't.

Sarah,
Ann and I wish to express our deepest sympathies to your family and you. Mike was an outstanding leader and spokesman for the seafood industry. I greatly admired him for that but most of all I admired him for the wonderful example he set for all who knew him. So much could be said about his intellect, his creativity and ability to innovate and his contributions to the seafood industry, but most all I remember him for being a person of great integrity who showed kindness and respect to all who met him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sarah,
Peter and I are truly sorry we were not able to attend Mike's funeral. I treasured Mike for his leadership in our national shellfish community (a term he coined!); for his intelligence, ability to articulate complex situations, find solutions to vexing problems, his always calm demeanor, and for his friendship. He will be missed beyond words.

Though I only met and worked with him a couple of times, it didn't take much time to develop an immense respect for Mike, and to see that he was an incredibly kind, gentle individual, and a moving, eloquent spokesman for the Louisiana seafood about which he cared so deeply. All the oysters in the Gulf are weeping this week.

Sarah, our hearts are heavy with such a great lost. Our branch will not be the same without his visits. We loved him and alway enjoyed his talks. After Sacrement he always made sure to ask about everyone in my family by name. Zachary always wondered how he remember everyone. He always made us feel loved and important. His last visit at the branch, we were just laughing and cutting up. I will miss him. Prayers and hugs to your family.

Sarah and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Mike was a true mentor to me in the seafood industry where we got to know each other through the NFI. He always had a kind word and smile when we were able to share a moment at industry meetings or seafood shows. He will continue to be with all of you as his spirit lives on in each of you. All my best, Lynn Girouard (formerly Morey's Seafood International LLC and NFI Board of Directors)

Dear Sarah and the Voisin family,

I missed seeing Mike when I attended the Let the World Be Your Oyster reception in Washington last week to which he had kindly invited me. Now, I am greatly saddened by his passing. Mike was such a terrific friend and ally during my years in Terrebonne starting LUMCON. He was just a young man then, but wise, reasoned, articulate and capable beyond his years. His calm and caring counsel helped me through many challenges. Mike's selfless dedication to his family, faith, community, culture, state, industry was an inspiration to so many people who had the good fortune to know him. I am sure that his legacy will live forever in our hearts.

Dear Sarah! I was so shocked to hear of Brother Voisin's passing. I always enjoyed each visit to our Branch by him and his Christ-like messages. He always seemed to know when someone was needing help and this showed in his caring mannerism. He will be greatly missed and the world is a little better for his having been a part of it. Take care of yourself! We love you!

To my dear friend Sarah and the entire Voisin family, my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. Words cannot express what I am feeling at this moment. Mike is one of the people that don't come into your life often. His kindness, intellect and forward thinking provided me with the tools to help the Gulf seafood industry. The times we strategized provided me with the insight into the importance of caring for all aspects of the industry. I will miss Mike daily as we continue his legacy. To be able to have known such a great man is an honor. Sarah, thank you for opening your heart to all of us and supporting Mike while he worked to make this world a better place. You have Mike watching over you and your family, as we do, to help guide us to follow in his footsteps.
Love you, Joanne

Sarah, Kevin, and the entire Voisin family, words cannot adequately express my sympathy for you. I will always remember the great times shared with Mike, Al and the fellows at the Seafood Board and Oyster Task Force. Mike was a gentle giant who usually got what he went after. The industry has lost a great man who will be sorely missed. I hope that time will soften your pain, and memories of good times greet you each day. You are in my prayers.

Sarah,
My husband Peter and I offer our sincere condolences to you and your entire family on the death of your beloved husband Mike. His accomplishments and achievements were outstanding, and his leadership was a beacon of direction and source of inspiration for all who knew him or worked with him. Mike was highly respected, admired, and loved for his goodness, his dedication, his honesty, his values, and his extreme devotion to his family and community. Though he is gone, his memory and legacy will live on. Rest in Peace, Mike! Sincerely, Peter and Carol “BOO” Broussard

For Sarah and all of Mike's family: Mike was a wonderful person and a great business man. You all have a lot to be proud of in the memories of his short life. We became friends over 20 years. Ago at the Washington Mardi Gras festivities. And ever year, he would send us invites to his party. He was missed this year!!! And years to come. Jimmy passed last year and he came to the funeral and we felt honored.
The months ahead will be painful, but all your beautiful memories will heal your lost. May God walk with all of you at this time
God Bless

Mike loved us in spite, and at times because, of our many failings. This is a rare capacity. For his "community" he was the giant who allowed us to stand on his shoulders to survey and prepare for the challenges we faced. Into God's care we will commit Mike's soul. But Mike's spirit and presence will continue to be felt whenever we are together and when we are alone. And the wonderful memories of times spent with this great spirit while he resided on this Earth will be cherished forever.

To the Voisin family: I was so sad to hear of Mike's death. I worked with him though my reporting at the Houma Courier and I could always turn to him for a better understanding of the local fishery. More importantly, he was an extremely kind and good-humored person, no matter what I happened to come calling for. I am a better person for having known him. My thoughts are with you in this time of loss.

Sara and Family, I only got to know Mike over the past few years, but quickly learned that Mike epitomized the kind of person I wish we all could be. His personality, objectivity, and willingness to listen to all sides of an issue was evident in everything that he did. I also know that he was Godly person, which is a character trait that too often is missing among our leaders. We will sorely miss him, his kindness and his leadership. Keep the memories.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Mike's passing. Frankly, I'm not sure that I've ever been quite able to deal with Ernie's loss, so to learn of Mike's untimely death is most unsettling.

Mike was a very special person. A great sense of humor; tenacious work ethic; and love of family only scratch the surface when dealing with his unique character. He'll be missed by so many as he touched all of us with his graciousness.

To Sarah and his family, I offer my sincerest condolences.
