Michael Evon Brooks, a resident of Baton Rouge, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 63, surrounded by his family. Michael was a retired electrician, an avid LSU and NASCAR fan, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Robin Broussard Brooks; daughter, Kristy Brooks Smith; grandchildren, Jordan Alexis Brooks and Ashton Smith; Mother, Patricia Milligan Brooks; sister, Tracy Brooks Saucier and husband, Jonathan; brother, Timothy D. Brooks and wife, Rhonda; 2 nephews, 2 great nephews, and 3 great nieces. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Enman Dirl "Sonny" Brooks; niece, Michelle Leigh Brooks; paternal grandparents, Evan E. and Ruth Mangum Brooks and maternal grandparents, Everette and Ruth Roberts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Ficklin Cemetery. Chad Brooks, Jonathan Saucier, Brad Craddock, Mike Broussard, Joey Broussard, and Ashton Smith will serve as pallbearers. Henry Duvall will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge for their special support and care especially, Mindy and Camelia, and to all family and friends who visited and helped keep our spirits up.
