Raymond Blahut Obituary

Age 96 and a resident of the Hungarian Settlement, Raymond passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Belle Maison Nursing Home. Raymond retired from the Ironworkers Local Union 623 after many years of dedicated service. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, having served during WWII and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and farming. Raymond leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Margaret Blahut; daughter, Loretta Pardue and husband Hobart, Jr.; son, Raymond L. Blahut, Jr. and wife Linda, along with his grandchildren, David Blahut and wife Rebecca, DeVan Pardue; great-granddaughter, Tara Varnado and husband Aaron. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Raymond in death were his parents, Julius and Katherine Nagy Blahut; brothers, Albert and Julius Blahut; sisters, Virginia Duczer and Cecelia Blahut. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the religious services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with visiting hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. Deacon John Veron will officiate the services and interment will follow in St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery in Albany. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hungarian Settlement Historical Society, P.O. Box 1909, Albany, LA 70711.
