Roxie Bernadette Fleniken Sparks passed away peacefully, February 21, 2013, at her home in GA. She was 101 years young. Born in Plaquemine LA to William Ennis Fleniken and Stella Mary Bergeron, she resided in Shreveport LA, Casper WY, Baton Rouge LA, Jacksonville FL, and Atlanta GA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Sparks Sr.; all her brothers and sisters, and son- in- law Lawrence Rodney Thibodeaux. She is survived by: daughter, Mary Sparks George and husband Richard D George Jr and their children, Denise and husband Bill Lancaster Jr. of Jacksonville FL and their children Richard Correnti, Elizabeth Turner and Rebecca Marie; Brian George of Duluth GA; Renae and husband Treacy Black of Jacksonville, FL and their children Treacy Jonathan, Michael Dale and Aaron Joseph; daughter, Betty , Thibodeaux of Livermore CO and children, Patrick Cory of Juneau AK, and Matthew Cade wife Leslie and daughter Tracy Ann of Ely MN; and son George Sparks Jr., his son Justin William and grandson Wolfgang Sparks and wife Autumn and children Tina, Paul, David, James, Oriana and George. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday March 1, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine, LA. A grave site service will be held at a later date in Shreveport LA at the Forest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Women of Vision Program at Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville FL, the Weinstein Center for Adult Day Services in Dunwoody GA, or Hospice Atlanta Center, Atlanta GA.
