Roy Francis Amedee, Sr., a good and faithful servant, he went home to God on Friday, February 3, 2017. He recently celebrated his 95th birthday surrounded by his loving family. Roy was born on January 10, 1922 in New Orleans, and his family moved to Lutcher, Louisiana with his parents at a young age. His greatest legacy was his cherished family. He is survived by his two sons and their spouses: Roy Francis Amedee, Jr. and Rita Hammond Amedee, and Patrick Michael Amedee and Jane Manint Amedee of New Orleans; grandchildren: Allison Amedee and husband Todd Robinson, Christian Amedee and wife Brandi Reinhardt Amedee, Daniel Amedee, and Emery Amedee, five great-grandchildren, and his sister, Isabelle Hecker. Roy attended Lutcher High School, and Louisiana State University, where he was a letterman on the boxing team, having won the Sugar Bowl tournament in his weight class. It was at Lutcher High that he met the love of his life and soul mate, Muriel Bossier of Lutcher. They married in October of 1942, and except for being apart due to his military service as a Lieutenant in the Army in World War II, they were rarely apart during their loving marriage that spanned seven decades. Muriel predeceased Roy on April 4, 2014. He was also predeceased by his parents, Louis and Odile Amedee, his sister Gladys Amedee, and his two brothers, Russell and Lawrence Amedee, and a grandson, Timmothy Amedee. Roy enjoyed a long and respected career working for Winn Dixie, and later, after his retirement from Winn Dixie, served as President and Chairman of the Board of the Louisiana Retailers Association. Before and after his retirement, his greatest joy was gathering his family and friends at his home for weekly Wednesday night meals and holiday celebrations. Roy was a man of deep faith and a member of St. Pius X Parish Catholic Church. He was a gracious, kind, generous man who never met a stranger and was always reaching out to help those in need. While he and Muriel lost their Lakeview home in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, he never lost his loyalty and love for New Orleans. A few months after the storm, he and Muriel returned to the city and began to rebuild close to their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., from 10 AM until 12 Noon, followed by Mass and Christian Burial in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Church at 6666 Spanish Fort New Orleans LA 70124 or Notre Dame Hospice at 1000 Howard Ave. 10th Floor New Orleans, LA 70113. The family wishes to express appreciation for the care and compassion of Notre Dame Nursing Home and Hospice. "Popee, thanks for touching our lives with your light and your love. Well done, good and faithful servant." The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories and condolences online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

Roy,
Sorry to hear about your dad's death.
Growing up in Lakeview in the 50s and 60s were fun times. I lived in back of the Conners on Gen. Diaz.
Your mom and dad were always friendly and so kind to me.
Your old neighbor,
