A resident of Amite, entered the Kingdom fo Heaven on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at age 82. Born February 14, 1935, on Valentine's Day, she lived her life with caring and love for all, always smiling and being called either "Aunt Ruby" or Maw-Maw Ruby" by those close to her. A retired Louisiana State Employee and a member of the Bizzy Bees, Ruby was the friend who was always there for you, usually with her home made food in hand. She is survived by her son, Lawrence "Larry" Brenner and wife, Sybil; grandchildren, Rebecca A. Hicks and Lawrence Brenner Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kenton and Carson Hicks; brother, Demos Gallender; sisters, Nita Jenkins and Betty Jane Mulkey as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Johnson; parents, Aurles and Angelina Gallender. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 AM until religious services at 1 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017. Services conducted by Rev. Mike Vaughn. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens. My deepest sympathy. Ms Ruby (Aunt Ruby) was a great friend to my Mom (Linnie A. Holden). She was the most caring and giving person I've ever met. I will miss the phone calls between her and Mom. We loved her. May God be a comfort to you all at this time.
