Ruby Nell Bankston Adams was born in Baton Rouge on September 6, 1941 and passed from this life on August 17, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1959. She met her husband-to-be and lifelong friend, Robert Dan Adams, Sr., at 20 years of age. She was a wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and, finally, her most treasured title, grandmother. Nell was friendly, generous, always helping others, with a great sense of humor and a playful spirit that none who knew her could ever forget. She believed that things were never a substitute for love of family and will be missed by all who knew her. She was also a passionate Saints and LSU Tigers fan. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Dan Adams, Sr., of 51 years; daughter, Dawn Dannelle Adams Pizzillo and husband David Michael Pizzillo; son, Robert Dan Adams II; two precious granddaughters, Amanda Leigh Strehl and Alaina Danielle Strehl; two step-grandsons, Steven Michael Pizzillo and Luke Ryan Pizzillo; two half-sisters, Linda Turner and Sally Bankston; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Louise Haigler Sibley and Hines Bankston. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 from 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
