Samuel Alfred Bacot, 101, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at his home in Denham Springs, LA. At a young age he dreamed of going to the "big leagues", but his dreams were cut short due to an arm injury. He married the love of his life and together they traveled and enjoyed the outdoors all across the country. With his passion for nature, together they established the KOA Campgrounds in Denham Springs. He was also instrumental in developing the legislation and getting the bill passed for the blue information signs you see on the interstates today. He never met a stranger and was known for always having a song in his heart and singing it to those around him. If you knew Sam Bacot, you were a better person for it. He took pride in being known as honorable to his family and his community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Southside Baptist Church in Denham Springs on Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Bruce McKenzie and Pastor Don Hoy. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by son, Teddy Elroy Bacot and wife Sue Goynes Bacot; daughter-in-law, Sarah Ingram Bacot; four grandchildren, Glenda Kay Bacot Watts and husband Randall, Angela Marie Bacot White and husband Scott, Samuel Glen Bacot, Jr. and wife Stephanie and Shanna Raef and husband Brian; ten great grandchildren, Tina White, Sammy White, Dylan Watts, Juliana Bacot, Stephen Bacot, Brianna Raef, Emma Raef, Brian Raef, Brennan Raef, and Evan Raef; sister-in-law, Dorothy Walters; nieces and nephew, Freddie Bacot, Patty Crenshaw, Lorice Say; as well numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Hanks Bacot; son, Samuel Glen Bacot, Sr., grandchild, Denise Michelle Bacot, great grandchild, Elizabeth Anne Watts; parents, Fred and Bessie Bacot; siblings, Jimmy Bacot, Frances Bacot, Evelyn Bacot, Rosella Gill, and Imogene Bacot Fly. A special thank you Tammy Stromeyer, Narda Lavelle, and Missy Williams for their love and care given. Please share your condolences at www.sealefuneral.com.
