Sanford Broussard Obituary

Sanford Jude Broussard, born April 16, 1938, a native of Duson, LA and a 52 year resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on January 7, 2017. Sanford graduated from Judice High School and served in the United States Army in the 531st Transportation Division in Fort Riley, KS. He was a Co-Owner of Industrial Electric Motor Service for 30 years. After his retirement in 2006, he enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, traveling and attending Catholic High School football games. But most of all we remember his quick witted sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nellie; his four sons, Stuart Broussard and wife Julie, Darren Broussard and wife Alicia, Craig Broussard and Ryan Broussard; his siblings, Warren Broussard and wife Joan, Emma Broussard and Jeanette Touchet and husband Mike; his grandchildren, Courtney B. Courtney and husband Landon, Steven Broussard, Matthew Broussard and Tori Tranchina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sanford is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Beauta Broussard; his sister, Etta Gauthier and his brother, Clifford Broussard. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with the Rosary starting at 5:00pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr., Baton Rouge, LA from 10:00am until Mass at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Broussard, Matthew Broussard, Landon Courtney, Brad Broussard, David Broussard, and Eric Broussard. Honorary pallbearer will be Tony Brouillette. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. George Building Campaign or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge. The family of Sanford Jude Broussard would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. J. Olson, Dr. C. Wood and Dr. F. Alvarez and their staffs. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge and Home Instead Caregivers. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.

When you count the loss of a friend you first think of the pain of those left behind. His wife and his children that grew into men and worked with their father. You are all in my prayers.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I was very happy to have gotten to know him and his sons while working for him. Sorry I'm not able to make the viewing or funeral but I will be thinking about you guys. I will always remember his big sense of humor! He could chew you out for some mistake you may have made while making you laugh the whole time.
