Coupel, Shirley Mae
Shirley Mae Couple - March 25, 1938 - May 9, 2021. Shirley Mae Coupel, a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Bayou Corne, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the age of 83. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed many hobbies in her life, such as bowling and softball. She was a proud member of the Ladies Soft Ball team and later a Softball Coach for Donaldsonville Recreation. Shirley adored music and was known for wanting to dance. After her husband's retirement, she enjoyed spending time with him on the Bayou. Shirley is survived by her husband of 65 years; Steven Paul Coupel; her daughter, Susan Coupel Imbraguglio and her husband, Pascal; two grandchildren, Heather Landry Klack and her husband, Damon, and Brandy Lynn Landry and her fiance', Jac Cosper; and two great grandchildren, Megan Rene' Klack and Macie Rose Klack. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo 'Buster' Sourita Jr. and Rose Barrient Sourita; and three sisters, Rose, Florence, and Theresa. The family requests that a time of visitation be observed on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 10am until time of services at Ascension Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Shirley on Wednesday, May 12th at 12noon at the Church with Father Matthew Dupre officiating. Following services, Shirley will be laid to rest in the church mausoleum. The family would like to express their gratitude to Cardinal Hospice for their care of Shirley during the past few weeks and thank Chateau DeVille.
