Although he battled illness for a long time, he never let the illness take away from his joy for living. Tom's attitude was always positive and he had a kind and gentle spirit. He loved traveling and meeting new people; he never met a stranger. Tom enjoyed attending and watching sporting events, especially LSU and the Saints. He had a great appreciation and love for all types of music. Tom found joy in gardening and appreciated beautiful flowers, his favorite were Louisiana Irises. He saw beauty in the faces he met, the beaches he walked, the cities he explored, and the back roads he traveled. Tom provided constant encouragement to his family and friends. Tom was a dreamer, a wanderer, and a lover of life and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Patrick Stagg and his staff. Also special thanks to the 4th floor team and all the ICU staff at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Bluebonnet, who cared for Tom in his final days. Due to Tom's many years of involvement with CLL research through the National Institute of Health the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Clinical Center, Department of Social Work, Building 10 CRC Room 2-3581, 10 Center Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892. Please make checks payable to Patient Emergency Fund. Please offer condolences to the family at www.oursofh.com.
