Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 81, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday October 11, 2012 after a courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by her family at her home in New Roads. She was a native of Pointe Coupee and a homemaker. Visiting will be held at St. Mary's of False River Catholic Church in New Roads on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 11 a.m. Conducted by the Rev. Msgr. Robert Berggreen. Interment to follow in False River Memorial Park. She is survived by her children, Pat Springstead and husband Frank, Colette Jewell and husband Dan, Paul Berthier and wife Becki, Louis Berthier and wife Michele, Michael Berthier and wife Kristine; two sisters, Melta Pourciau and Ruby Guerin; and a special niece, Millie Smith and husband Conday. Grandchildren, Jason Springstead and wife Jennifer and their daughters, Devon and Natalie; Scott Springstead and wife Misty and their daughters, Mackenzie and Madelyn; Kathryn Springstead, Story Berthier, Holden and Austin Jewell; Sara Andre and husband Thomas and their children, Noah and Cadence; Patrick Berthier. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John H. ""Pat"" Berthier Jr.; parents, Arthur and Meledia Guidroz; sisters, Nora Jarreau and Eunice Picard. Pallbearers will be Jason and Scott Springstead, Holden and Austin Jewell, Patrick Berthier, Rickey Rube and Thomas Andre. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bienvenu, Jennifer and the entire staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Also, Pointe Coupee Hospice staff, especially nurses Warren, Ella, LaDawnia, Donna and Jana, and aides Gladys, Carolyn and Charmaine.
