Verna T. Wise, age 66, a resident of Independence, was granted her angel wings on February 11, 2017. Born January 11, 1951, in Port Barre, LA. Married to the love of her life for almost 35 years. Loving mother of two daughters. Her interests included family, her job, working in the yard and playing her IPad games. She was an active employee of North Oaks Health System. As a cancer survivor, Verna was an inspiration to her husband, family and friends. She demonstrated her unceasing willingness to provide support and care for all with a positive attitude that encompassed everything she did. Verna's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile, caring hugs and compassionate heart brought so much joy to all. Verna is survived by her loving husband, Everett C. "Buddy" Wise; daughter, Brandy A. Mitchell and husband Gary E. Mitchell; mother, Marie Lee; sisters, Ruby Jackson, Dolores Aitkins & Janet Clark; brothers, Larry Baldridge & Timmy Thibodeaux; step children, Robin McCants and husband Kevin, Everett "Chuck" Wise and wife Kitty, Alice Miguez, & Cassandra Lanoux; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Twyla R. Arnold; father, Elton Thibodeaux Sr.; step-father, Barney Lee Sr.; brothers, Elton Thibodeaux Jr., Barney Lee Jr. & Danny Lee; sisters, Ellen Thibodeaux & Gloria Thibodeaux; and grandson, Terrell Wise. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA on February 17, 2017 from 12:00PM until services at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the .
