Virgie Vicaro Broussard. A homemaker, Virgie will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and in true Italian custom, her kitchen on Sundays was open to her family and their friends who happened to be on hand. She was truly a friend to many. A resident of LaPlace, LA, she died on Tuesday August 5, 2014, at the age of 84. A native of Baton Rouge, she graduated from University High and attended LSU. Virgie is survived by her husband Marion, and their eight children: Marianne and husband Dean Wolfe, Michael and wife Mary Alice, Steven and wife Wanda, David and wife Nancy, Brion and wife Jenny, Kenneth and wife Diane, son Craig and daughter Beth Roussel; also survived by 17 grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant son Matthew, twin great-grandchildren Halle and Evan, parents Mary and Joseph Vicaro and sister Cecile Lee. She was an early member and faithful volunteer of the St. Joan of Arc thrift Shop. A gifted artist, she studied painting under prominent New Orleans artist; her paintings hang in man homes along the river. Her family is grateful for the loving support throughout her extended illness given by Angela Anderson. Assisting in her care were granddaughter Jessica, Jean Marie Groom, Debbie Roussel and the dedicated staff of St. Catherine Hospice; the family is also thankful for their support. Visitation will be at Millet-Guidry Funeral, 2806 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, LA on Friday August 8, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, LA on Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by Mass at 11:30am.
