Memories and Condolences
for Wilery Bordelon

Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to Mr. Bordelon's family. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I met Mr. Bordelon shortly after I began teaching at Sharon Hills Elementary, probably around 1990. He was one of our many beloved neighbors, and rarely did a day pass where I didn't at least get a "Good morning"/ "Good Afternoon" shout out or a friendly wave. I enjoyed our parking lot "conferences" on the afternoons when I happened to be leaving for the day, and he was out and about for a stroll, usually with one of his precious and much loved grandchildren. It was during one of these visits, that he and I made a Bordelon connection on my mother's side from the same area of Avoylles Parish. As time passed, and work seemed to keep other coworkers and me behind our desks for longer hours, he would pop into our classrooms simply to check on us and make sure all was well. He even noticed when I was absent for several days in 2013 due to my father's passing, and he made it a point to come to the funeral to express his sympathy and support. What a sweet and caring person! I will remember him fondly. As he probably would have said, this is not "goodbye", this is "see you later".

To Wilery's family, I aam so sorry to hear about your Dad and Granddad. He will be sorely missed. I haven't seen him in so long and will pray for you all that your hearts find peace. I can't go because at the time, I have a cast on my right leg and can't drive. I would be there if I could. I love you and will keep you in my prayers. God Bless You!

My heart is saddened at the passing of such a great man. Pop was such a ray of light, you couldn't help but smile and feel happy around him. He always keep me laughing. He was kind and gentle. He was loved by everyone who knew him. It was such an honor to be a part of his life. He also impacted Dylan's life too, Dylan loved him so much. Being around Pop was almost like God giving me my own Daddy back. I truly loved him with all my heart. It is hard to imagine pulling up to Rae Drive and Pop not being there sitting in that recliner in Fema trailer #1 or fussing with Kim so he could get a good laugh, or saying "I'll do it tomorrow"! Thank you Pop for filling my heart with joyful happy memories and for being such a great addition to Dylan and my family. Dylan and I will forever miss you and love you. Every thought of you will bring a smile to my face and warm my heart. Fly high with the angels Pop, you are whole and made new in Jesus name!
Sincerely,
Melissa McClanahan (Kim's best friend)
